■ Designer's Commentary (from the catalog)
There was a Japanese rock star who died when I was 17. He was a foundational figure for me. Among the singles released after he passed away, there was one with this title. He used to wear these large butterfly—or Rockers-style—frames as a kind of trademark. They were 8-base curves. Recently, laws in Japan changed, and 8-base curve sunglasses can no longer be manufactured after this year. You can still make fashion glasses, but actual sunglasses are prohibited. So, I thought, why not recreate the glasses he wore using a 6-base curve? Also, simply put, this shape was common in women's eyewear back in the day, but you don't see it much anymore. I thought it would be great to make it now. A key feature is how the temples are set lower from the bridge line. Making them in a straight line felt a bit clumsy. By setting them lower, it lifts the face slightly, which creates a slimming effect. Although, I suppose that was just a happy accident.
