How to send your prescription

Returned 7–10 days after your frame arrives

  • Glasses bought elsewhere are welcome

    Send photos and we will give you a quote.

  • Returns and exchanges

    We do not accept returns or exchanges for the customer’s own reasons. If your order arrives defective or damaged, please contact us within 3 days of delivery. We will exchange it for the same item (we pay the return shipping; if it is out of stock, we refund you).

  • Adjustments after purchase

    We adjust the fit after purchase as well. Depending on the work, it may be free or charged.

Send us a photo of your frame.

Ask by email

Send us a frame — any frame, from any shop — and we will put new lenses in it. Lenses are cut and fitted in Sabae, Fukui, the town that makes most of Japan's eyewear.

You do not need an eye prescription

This is the part most people do not expect. Send us the glasses you wear now and we read the power off your existing lenses. No optometrist visit, no prescription form. If you would rather send a prescription from your own optometrist, that works too — whichever is easier for you.

Choosing your lens

Prices are shown above in your own currency and update as you change the options. The choices are:

  • Single vision — three bands, by the combined strength of your prescription (SPH + CYL)
  • Progressive (varifocal) — three bands, same idea. Far and near in one pair
  • Photochromic — clear indoors, darkens in sunlight. Same price with or without prescription
  • Polarised — cuts glare off water and road surfaces. Same price with or without prescription
  • Non-prescription (plano) — no correction. Add a tint and your frame becomes sunglasses

A blue-light filter and a colour tint can be added to any of them. All lenses are high-index aspheric with a water-repellent coating as standard.

Photochromic and polarised lenses already carry their own colour, so the tint option adds nothing to them — leave it set to No.

Non-prescription lenses cost slightly more than standard single vision. That is not a typo: flat blanks have become more expensive to buy than prescription ones, because of resin prices.

Not sure which band you fall into? Choose the option marked “I don't know my prescription”. It is priced at the lowest band; if your prescription turns out to be stronger, we will tell you the difference before we start any work, and you can cancel free of charge.

How long it takes

One week to ten days from the day your frame reaches us. If you buy a frame from us at the same time, count one to ten days from your order.

Ordering from outside Japan

We do this regularly, including for customers in Hong Kong and the United States. Email info@phase-design.jp before ordering and we will confirm the lens, the total, and where to send your frame. Please ship prepaid — we cannot accept freight-collect shipments from abroad.

What we cannot do

We work at a distance, so we cannot adjust the fit on your face the way a shop can with you in the chair. Frames that are cracked, badly distorted, or rimless designs in poor condition may not survive re-glazing — send us a photo first and we will tell you honestly.
