[Spring/Summer 2022] Introducing glasses/sunglasses + watches worn by staff! I METRONOME

Hello, I'm OKD from METRONOME-Tokyo Online, the official Japanese online store for METRONOME DESIGN INC., which sells METRONOME®, an eyeglasses and sunglasses brand founded in London.
Our shop delivers stylish eyeglasses and sunglasses (eyewear) nationwide, and each staff member is a fan of their own original brand. Recently, we've become obsessed with customizing the cost-effective Resonance series.

1. About our shop
(A frame with a chic finish achieved by giving the regular black color a "matt finish")
Our shop offers online eyeglass/sunglasses lens replacement and special frame surface processing services, all using unique techniques rarely seen in Japan. This means that even the same frame can look completely different depending on the processing. Best of all, you can create a pair of glasses that are just for you.
Of course, we also stock many unique frames that are already outstanding in design and stand out without any modification. (Their designs are highly regarded overseas, and in 2021 we even exhibited at the international exhibition SILMO in Paris!)
2. Introduction of items used
So, this time I would like to introduce mainly the items that I, OKD, use on a regular basis.
First up, for everyday use, we have MINX (Resonance). Resonance is the second line of the original brand known as METRONOME. To be precise, it is called Resonance by METRONOME.
The theme is "resonance," as the brand name suggests. The design is a bit more "resonant" with the METRONOME feel, making it easier for anyone to resonate with, and it's reasonably priced.
While maintaining its design, the product has been designed with an emphasis on cost performance by improving the materials and manufacturing process.
The MINX sunglasses pictured here are a hugely popular pair of glasses (sunglasses) in our shop. They feature clip-on lenses, a familiar feature of the Resonance series, and come in a standard black Wellington style. They're the perfect choice for someone trying out stylish glasses for the first time.
By the way, in terms of size...
1: Lens width 48 (clip 47)
2: Bridge width 22
3: Temple length 145
4: Lens height 38 (clip 39)
That's how it is. The PD (interpupillary distance) calculated by adding the lens width (1) and the bridge width (2) is 70, and this MINX fits me best. Actually, I've never had my PD properly measured, so I judge it by wearing the glasses frame.
The PD of MINX is 70, so in my case I can use this as a standard to choose the larger or smaller size of other glasses/sunglasses frames.
If you don't use prescription lenses, you probably don't need to be too concerned about your PD. However, if you do use prescription lenses, I recommend having your PD measured properly at an eyeglass store.
This is because putting prescription lenses into a frame with an incorrect PD is not good for your eyes. Continuing to wear glasses/sunglasses with an incorrect PD can cause eye fatigue and other negative effects.
Well, I've digressed a bit. Let's continue with the MINX. As you can see in the photo above, the MINX can be used as sunglasses using something called "clip lenses." Therefore, if you remove the clip lenses, you can use them as glasses.
(MINX clipless version)
I changed the lenses in the MINX frame to ones with blue light blocking lenses, which have become a great companion for my everyday desk work.
By the way, MINX comes in three frame colors. I'm also interested in the matte white C3. (The black version is C1.) It seems like you can create a variety of looks by changing the lenses! (Please try it out!)

Next up, I'd like to introduce Lily (Trad) ! Trad is a classic brand that creates what designers want. Trad frames also come in clip-on lens models. So, frames with clip-on lenses can be used as both glasses and sunglasses. In my case, I wear them as glasses indoors and as sunglasses with clip-on lenses outdoors.
(Lily straight temples with gray clip)
Actually, Lily comes in two different temple shapes (the part that rests on the ears). There are two types: the straight type shown in the photo (the standard shape) and the rope-wrapped type. Here's the rope-wrapped type:
(The model in the foreground is Lily. The one in the background is SummerRain (METRONOME))
They are called by various names, such as "nawate" (striped temples) or "cable temples," but as you can see, the tips of the temples are rounded, and they fit snugly around the ears when worn. This classic design is popular overseas, and recently it has been gaining popularity in Japan as well! (This is a frame to watch in 2022.)
The temples fit snugly around your ears, so you don't have to worry about them slipping off even when you move, making them perfect for those who are concerned about their glasses slipping off. This is what they look like when you remove the clip. As unisex (men's/women's) glasses (sunglasses), they are popular with both men and women! Round lens shapes are also popular in Japan.
(Image of the lens clip removed)
By the way, I also use SummerRain, which was shown in the image earlier (lol). Although the size is not exactly the same as MINX, Lily, and SummerRain, I can wear it without any problems.
(Summer Rain blue lens type)
The Summer Rain glasses feature flip-up lenses. However, unlike the Lily glasses mentioned earlier, they are not clip-on lenses. They are attached to the frame and can be flipped up at an angle, allowing them to be used as both glasses and sunglasses.
(Summer Rain with the lens flipped up)
I bought these because I simply love the angled temples. If I had to mention a downside, it would be that the sunglasses lenses cannot be removed, and some people may find the rope-wrapped temples a little tight.
If this bothers you, please consult with an optician or other professional about adjustments. Lens replacement is possible, but due to the structure of the lenses, if the lenses are strong, the width may protrude slightly.
3. The story of the watch
Well, there's no end to the things I could write about glasses/sunglasses, but I'll add more later, and let me talk a little about watches!
In fact, our shop has been selling Vague Watch Co. watches since January of this year!
(Vague Watch Co. BLK SUB and Lily (Traditional))
Yoshida Trade Company's original watch brand, "VAGUE WATCH Co.", was created with the concept of "a watch that lets you easily enjoy the atmosphere of an antique watch."
We offer products that recreate the good old feel of antique watches in modern wristwatches.
I use the BLK SUB model, which is also shown in the photo above.
VAGUE WATCH Co.'s flagship model, the BLK SUB, was created with the concept of "a watch that lets you easily enjoy the atmosphere of an antique watch," and is inspired by a diver's watch issued to a senior officer in a certain country's navy in the 1970s. The watch body, which has lost its plating in places, is IP plated and then hand-scraped by artisans to give it the appearance of having been used for many years.
Personally, I love nylon straps. Not only does it have a nice antique feel, but it's also great that you don't need to adjust the strap! With stainless steel, it's not as difficult to wear, and even if you do, it takes time and effort to adjust it to fit your wrist.
(BLK SUB nylon belt specification)
Recently, I believe that anything can be unisex (lol), so I've been enjoying various watches. By the way, I also bought a stainless steel strap (lol).

I'm grateful to be surrounded by stylish items that motivate me every day. There are still many things I want to introduce, so I'll keep updating!
