[2022] Color Sunglasses Lens Replacement (Sample) I METRONOME

【2022年】カラーサングラスレンズ交換について(見本)I METRONOME

Hello, I'm OKD, a staff member at METRONOME-Tokyo Online, the official Japanese online store for METRONOME DESIGN INC., the London-based eyewear and sunglasses brand that sells METRONOME®.

This time, we will introduce a completed sample of our new service, the "Color Sunglasses Lens Replacement Service," which started this year!

The absolute number is still small, but I will do my best to give you as much idea as possible!

Our shop carries over 30 types of colored sunglasses lenses. You can distinguish between them by color and transmittance, but we recommend checking transmittance in particular when choosing lenses.

Transmittance is a numerical measurement of how much light passes through the lens. The higher the transmittance number, the more light passes through and the brighter the image will appear. Conversely, the lower the number, the less glare there will be. Transmittance literally means the degree to which light passes through.

For example, first of all, we have "Canary B" which has a transmittance of 77%, which is a relatively high number meaning that it lets light through.

Here is what this lens actually looks like fitted in: (METRONOME Distortion Melancholia)

The finished product is clearer than the sample image! I think the same idea can be applied to other lenses.

For example, low transmittance means that light is relatively impervious to light, such as the "Stork S" with a transmittance of 14%.

This is the finished product. Looking at the image above, you might think, "Huh? Can you see through this?", but when you actually fit it into the frame, you can see that you can see through it just fine! This is a Resonance Trigger with a 14% transmittance Stoke S.

Now let's take a look at some other lenses. The image below shows the Hannover Y lens with a transmittance of 83%, which is relatively light-transmitting.

Here is a sample of the actual fit: I put it in Resonance's WONKA.

High transmittance gives the lenses a subtle color, making it easier for people outside to see your facial expression even through the lenses.

And this is "Liege V 58% transmittance".

I tried replacing the lens with Resonance's EUREKA.

And here is "Lorient BL 64% transparency"

I tried fitting it into METRONOME's ``Heavenly.''

As expected, the impression is different when you look at the lenses alone and when they are actually fitted in! In fact, it is said that the way a color appears changes depending on the surrounding colors, so it seems that the way it appears will also change depending on the frame color.

We will continue to update this page as samples arrive!

Well then, OKD↓
