Hello, I'm Yamada from METRONOME-Tokyo Online, the official Japanese online store for METRONOME DESIGN INC., which sells METRONOME®, a handmade eyeglasses and sunglasses brand founded in London.

METRONOME was launched in London in 2017. Since then, it has quickly gained international recognition, with buyers from all over the world requesting representation. Every year, the brand presents its collections in Paris, Milan, New York, and London.

Since 2018, the brand has unofficially participated in the Paris Collection, becoming the only Japanese brand to participate in the Paris Collection with sunglasses. The seemingly eccentric yet well-thought-out designs are unique to a designer who has made his living from fashion, and the brand has been praised for its individual designs and the story it tells as a total fashion piece.

1. Introduction

As of the time of writing this blog, it is snowing outside! (January 2022) We are still in the cold winter months, and the expression "mid-winter" is still appropriate, but the apparel industry is already turning its attention to this spring and summer.

The general consensus is that 2022 will see the continuation of the trends from 2021, but with more edgy designs.

2. Infected, a song that expresses indignation and antithesis to this oppressive situation.

For the past two years, or even longer, we have been in the midst of a self-restraint mood. I think the theme for 2022 will be liberation from that, in a sense, "oppressive" mood.

If that's the case, it's the season for Resonance again this year. In particular, if you're looking for "liberation from oppression," then the first thing I'd like to introduce is Infected [Resonance by METRONOME® × KUDAN] , which was released in the winter of 2021.

3. What are the trends heading into spring and summer 2022?

At SILMO PARIS, the international eyeglasses and sunglasses exhibition in 2021, thicker frames, clear designs, and clip-on lenses were attracting attention, and as someone who was actually there, we had the impression that "it was coming after all."

Infected features clip-on lenses that allow you to easily switch between glasses and sunglasses. The frame lenses are blue light-blocking, making them a two-way style: indoors for viewing your PC or smartphone, and outdoors as sunglasses.

These sunglasses are truly designed for the spring and summer of 2022. The structure of the sunglasses allows for lens replacement. Lens replacement is available through our shop's lens replacement service (prescription required), at an authorized Resonance dealer, or at your local eyeglass store.
